Free 15-minute Zoom Consultation: If you’d like to discuss your needs and how I can help, I offer a no-obligation, confidential consultation.
Whether we're meeting face-to-face or online, each counselling session is a safe and supportive space where you’re free to talk about whatever’s on your mind. We’ll meet at the agreed time, and I’ll invite you to share what you’d like to focus on that day. Sessions are relaxed and conversational – there’s no judgement, just a genuine aim to help you feel heard, supported, and at ease.
Depending on what suits you, we might simply talk, or we can use helpful resources like information sheets or worksheets. If you enjoy being creative, we can explore things through drawing, writing, or other creative approaches using pens, paper, or art materials. It’s entirely your choice – some clients love the creative side; others prefer a straightforward chat.
If you're a parent arranging counselling for your child or teenager (aged 9+), I’ll take your contact details and email you:
A welcome pack with session information
Payment instructions
A parent information sheet outlining how I work
I work with individuals and couples in person. Before our first session, I’ll email you:
An assessment form
A Client & Counsellor agreement
A risk assessment
For couples: a ‘No Secrets’ policy
I kindly ask that these are completed and emailed back before we begin.
For online sessions, once your payment is received, I’ll send you:
The relevant assessment forms
A client & Counsellor agreement that includes my online counselling terms
A secure Zoom link for your session
Zoom is a secure, user-friendly platform, and I’m here to help if you need guidance on how to use it.
Yes, of course! I can send over photos of the rooms so you can see what they look like and ensure they meet your needs for comfort and predictability. It's important to me that you feel at ease in the environment.
FAQs for Neurodiverse Couples Counselling
No, not at all. Many couples I support are exploring neurodiversity without a formal diagnosis. If you or your partner relate to traits of autism, ADHD, or sensory differences, we can work together in a supportive, neuro-affirming way.
Yes. Neurodiverse couples counselling considers different communication styles, sensory needs, processing speeds, and emotional regulation. My approach avoids assumptions based on neurotypical norms and instead helps you both understand and work with your natural differences.
We can explore:
Communication difficulties
Emotional disconnect or misunderstandings
Sensory overwhelm
Conflict cycles
Intimacy and connection
Parenting differences
Navigating diagnosis or late self-identification
Most sessions are attended together, but I may occasionally offer a short individual session if helpful to better understand each partner’s experience. We’ll always discuss this together.
This varies by couple. Some find a few sessions helpful, while others choose longer-term support. We can start with an initial block of 4-6 sessions and review progress together.
Absolutely. I adapt my approach depending on what works best for you both — whether that’s using visuals, writing, pacing sessions differently, or creating space for processing time.
Yes. I work from a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed perspective. This means I don’t see neurodiversity as something to "fix" — but as something to understand, support, and work with in the relationship.
Hi, I’m Julie – a down-to-earth, friendly counsellor with 17 years of experience. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I have a special passion for supporting neurodiverse adults, teens, and couples.
Whether we’re meeting online or in my cosy Cheltenham room, my aim is always to help you feel safe, heard, and understood. Sessions are relaxed and tailored to you – some people like to just talk, while others enjoy using creative tools or gentle structure.
Outside of work, I love running with friends (mainly for the post-run cake!), watching crime tv at home, house interiors, and spending time with my family and my Maine Coon Cat Oscar.
